I’ve been driving my 2018 Velar for a couple of years now and it’s been mostly flawless, but recently I’ve noticed the transmission jerking a bit when shifting from first to second gear, especially when the car is cold. It’s not a violent lurch, but it’s noticeable enough to make me worry that something is starting to wear out. I’ve checked the transmission fluid level and it seems fine, but I know these ZF 8-speed units can develop issues with the valve body or solenoids if they’re not maintained properly. I’m not sure if I should be looking at a fluid change or if it’s something more serious. I want to take it to a specialist who really knows these transmissions and can do a proper diagnostic, rather than a general garage that might just suggest a full rebuild. I found a few places online and I’m thinking about it – if you want to learn more about Range Rover repair, there are some good resources out there. But I’d rather get a recommendation from someone who’s actually used a particular workshop in Abu Dhabi and can vouch for their honesty and skill. Has anyone here had a similar transmission issue on their Velar or other Range Rover and found a reliable shop that sorted it out without overcharging? I’m also curious about whether a transmission fluid flush is recommended on these units or if it’s better to just do a drain and refill. Any advice would be really appreciated.
